Wensday, 8th of December at 19.00 Kuremaa Castle (Jõgeva county)

Sunday, 19th of December at 17.00 Hopner’s House (Raekoja plats 18, Tallinn)

The concert program consists of the unique samples of sacred music from old monasteries, also christmas folk songs. The ensemble will performe Old Russian, Greek chants, also the unique IVth century Syrian chants on Aramaic language (Aramaic was the language of Jesus Christ). You can also hear some sacred christmas music by modern composers and transcriptions of special folk songs (Russian and Ukranian) that can be sung during the Christmas period.

Founded in January of 1989 by Valery Petrov, the ORTHODOX SINGERS vocal ensemble has, over the 30 years, established a reputation as one of the finest professional choral ensembles in Estonia. The ensemble’s manner of performance is characterized by profound attention to every word in a sacred text, flawless vocal production, a carefully thought out dynamic plan, and an extraordinary sense of style. Critics have repeatedly singled out the ensemble’s uncanny ability to preserve a work’s unity of form in the course of a performance, while maintaining a matchless piano dynamic that resembles the “melting away of sound.”

The ensemble consists of professional musicians who are proficient in the performance practice styles of various epochs.

Tickets are at the PILETILEVI saleoffices and at the entrance before the concert starts.
